Sugar PR volunteers at Children’s Adventure Farm Trust (CAFT)
Sugar PR spent the first day back of 2026 volunteering at the Children’s Adventure Farm Trust (CAFT), helping to remove the Christmas decorations and prepare the farm for the year ahead. It was cold (very cold!) but we came armed with big coats, gloves, hats and a shared willingness to muck in.
We were delighted to join in the hard graft by our clients HBV Group (the UK’s leading supported living accomodation developer), Knutsford-based ATEL (construction company) and Manchester-based Stone MC (the project management consultants).
CAFT is a registered charity that provides day trips, residential breaks and seasonal activities for children across the North West whose lives may be impacted by illness, complex medical needs, special educational needs, disability and social disadvantage.
The charity creates an inclusive environment where children of all abilities can come together to have fun and be themselves. It’s about ensuring that every child, regardless of their background or circumstances, feels welcomed and valued.
CAFT is a place many people in the North West know and love, but what’s easy to forget is how much work happens behind the scenes to make it feel effortless for visitors. Once the festive sparkle has faded, someone still has to pack everything away, reset the space and get it ready for the thousands of children and families who will walk through the gates in 2026. That’s where days like this come in.

Pete Davies, founder of Sugar PR, said:
“We spend our working lives talking about stories and impact, but days like this are a reminder that sometimes the most important thing is just showing up and helping out. It was cold, it wasn’t glamorous, but it was genuinely worthwhile and that’s exactly why we wanted to do it.”
Volunteering days like this are a reminder that not everything meaningful needs framing or amplifying. Sometimes it’s enough just to contribute quietly and support organisations that make a real difference in people’s lives.
It was also a chance to spend time together as a team outside of our usual environment. Shared effort, especially when it’s a bit uncomfortable and hard graft, has a way of bringing people closer. We left cold, slightly muddy and tired, but in the best possible way. P
Sugar PR is proud to have played a small role in helping CAFT prepare for another year of welcoming families, and grateful for the opportunity to support such a special charity.
